The El Oso Project, based near the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe in Peru, aims to conserve forests in coffee-growing regions, protect wildlife like the endangered spectacled bear, and promote sustainable farming. Farmers in the buffer zones adopt organic methods and certifications, fostering environmental protection.
The project has expanded into a cooperative called Los Amigos del Oso, involving more farmers and generating funds for wildlife conservation. By offering workshops and native tree supplies, the cooperative sustains a balance between coffee production and forest preservation.
